Elliot Mod

Description

The Elliots were a border family with lands in the border region of Scotland. The origins of the name Elliot are unclear although the name was often spelt Ellot. The Elliots had a stronghold at Stobs Castle in Roxburghshire which was later destroyed. They partook in border reiving (raiding) on the Anglo-Scottish border throughout the late medieval and early modern periods, in a region that was often blighted by war between Scotland and England until the 17^th century. Other neighbouring families such as the Scotts were also border reivers and it became an economically important activity.

Their motto is Fortiter et recte, Boldly and rightly.

T7 Quality Tartan 

Strathmore’s T7 Quality Stock Tartan is a 100% pure new wool, general purpose, worsted tartan. Approximately 11oz/yard in weight and 155cm/61″ wide. It is suitable for making ladies kilts, skirts, trousers, accessories such as scarves and neckties, and for a lighter weight gents kilt.

Approximately 13.5oz/yard in weight and 142cm/56″ wide.  Our W60 is a thoroughbred, medium weight kilting fabric intended primarily for use as a gent’s kilting material. Its hardwearing qualities, coupled with our wide range of tartan designs, also make it an excellent upholstery fabric.
