Campbell Argyll Modern

Description

The Campbells were an extraordinarily successful Highland clan who often claimed descent from British king Arthur. Centred on Argyll, with a later seat at Inveraray Castle, Campbell branches eventually extended as far north as Inverness and as far south as Ayrshire, moving between Highland and Lowland culture with ease. The heads of the Campbells of Argyll later joined the aristocracy and held significant political power. The 5^th Earl of Argyll was a leading figure of the Reformation, supporting the publication of the first book printed in Scottish Gaelic, The Form of Prayer. The Campbell lords were great patrons of artistic culture in the Highlands as supporters of the poetic lineage of MacEwans.

Their motto is Ne Obliviscaris, Forget Not.

T7 Quality Tartan 

Strathmore’s T7 Quality Stock Tartan is a 100% pure new wool, general purpose, worsted tartan. Approximately 11oz/yard in weight and 155cm/61″ wide. It is suitable for making ladies kilts, skirts, trousers, accessories such as scarves and neckties, and for a lighter weight gents kilt.

Strathmore’s W60 Quality Stock Tartan is a 100% pure new wool, worsted tartan kilting and upholstery fabric. Approximately 13.5oz/yard in weight and 142cm/56″ wide.  Our W60 is a thoroughbred, medium weight kilting fabric intended primarily for use as a gent’s kilting material. Its hardwearing qualities, coupled with our wide range of tartan designs, also make it an excellent upholstery fabric.
