Farquharson Modern

Description

The Farquharson clan were possibly descended from Farquhar, son of Alexander Ciar. The clan were part of Clan Chattan, a confederation of clans in the central Highlands that were eventually led by the chief of clan MacIntosh. This was an alliance of kindreds created in a period of frequent, although not constant, feud between clans.  The Farquharson’s seat was at Invercauld in Aberdeenshire, now within the Cairngorms National Park. This was where their traditional lands were based. The clan was involved in the conflicts of the Stuart monarchs, including the Anglo-Scottish Wars, Wars of the Three Kingdoms and Jacobite Uprisings.

Their motto is Fide et Fortitudine, By Fidelity and Fortitude.

Strathmore’s W60 Quality Stock Tartan is a 100% pure new wool, worsted tartan kilting and upholstery fabric. Approximately 13.5oz/yard in weight and 142cm/56″ wide.  Our W60 is a thoroughbred, medium weight kilting fabric intended primarily for use as a gent’s kilting material. Its hardwearing qualities, coupled with our wide range of tartan designs, also make it an excellent upholstery fabric.
