Lamont Modern

Description

Like many west Highland clans, the Lamonts claimed descent from Ireland, in their case from the elite O’Neill family from Ulster. Their principal lands were on the Cowal peninsula in Argyll which they held with authority until encroachment by the Campbells in the 17^th century. Before this period the Lamonts held strongholds at Toward and Ascog Castle in Argyll which were later destroyed during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms in the 17^th century. During this war the Lamonts initially fought with the Campbells on the Covenanters side but turned to fight with Alasdair Mac Colla for the Royalists.

Their motto is Ne Parcas nec Spernas, Neither spare nor dispose.

T7 Quality Tartan 

Strathmore’s T7 Quality Stock Tartan is a 100% pure new wool, general purpose, worsted tartan. Approximately 11oz/yard in weight and 155cm/61″ wide. It is suitable for making ladies kilts, skirts, trousers, accessories such as scarves and neckties, and for a lighter weight gents kilt.

Approximately 13.5oz/yard in weight and 142cm/56″ wide.  Our W60 is a thoroughbred, medium weight kilting fabric intended primarily for use as a gent’s kilting material. Its hardwearing qualities, coupled with our wide range of tartan designs, also make it an excellent upholstery fabric.
