Lindsay Modern

Description

The Lindsay name derives from that of an Anglo-Norman family who owned land in Lincolnshire and Normandy in High Medieval England. The Lindsay’s later developed a relationship with David I of Scotland and were given land by him in the south of Scotland, with branches gradually holding the earldoms of Crawford and Balcarres, among other smaller landholdings. The Earldom of Crawford is one of the oldest titles in Scotland. Members of the Lindsay family have maintained homes such as Edzell Castle and Balcarres House. Members of the Lindsay family were active in Scottish politics throughout the medieval and early modern periods, fighting in the Scottish Wars of Independence and the Wars of the Three Kingdoms.

Strathmore’s W60 Quality Stock Tartan is a 100% pure new wool, worsted tartan kilting and upholstery fabric. Approximately 13.5oz/yard in weight and 142cm/56″ wide.  Our W60 is a thoroughbred, medium weight kilting fabric intended primarily for use as a gent’s kilting material. Its hardwearing qualities, coupled with our wide range of tartan designs, also make it an excellent upholstery fabric.
