Description

The Highland clan MacLennan’s name derives from Mac Gille Fhinnein meaning ‘son of the follower of St Fillan’, an Irish monk who settled in Scotland in the 8^th century. The MacLennans settled in Kintail, in the North-West Highlands.

The MacLennan motto is Dum spiro spero, While I breathe I hope

The Clan MacLennan shares a tartan with the Logan family. The link between the families is unclear although there are historical stories that possibly connect the clans. Branches of Lowland Logans include the Logans of Restalrig, now part of Edinburgh and the Logans of that Ilk in Ayrshire. Highland Logans may have settled in the northern Highlands.
